We use this same system every day of our lives. We all make decisions based on reasonable probability. Seldom do we have absolute certainty. When we’re about to board an airplane, we don’t know with absolute certainty that once the plane leaves Tulsa that it will land in Dallas. There is a very high probability that it will, but no absolute certainty.
When we make a deposit at the bank, we never have absolutely certainty that the bank computers won’t crash and lose all our account information. Instead, based upon the probability and the consistency of the evidence, we decide to make a deposit and hope everything will work out fine.
It is unreasonable for someone to insist on absolute proof of the existence of God. We don’t even place that kind of a burden on the judicial system. It is more reasonable is for someone, after having examined enough evidence for the existence of God, to then say beyond a reasonable doubt, “I have examined the evidence and heard the arguments to the point where I have to be honest and conclude that there is a God." ...more... 1 2 3 4 5 |
