The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. He is not some vague, nebulous shadow nor an impersonal force. He is co-equal, co-existent, and co-eternal with God the Father and God the Son. He was present and active with Creation (Genesis 1:2 and 1:26). His influence is noted throughout the Old Testament, but His power becomes more pronounced in the life and ministry of Jesus. Finally, after Jesus ascended to be at the right hand of the Father, He sent the Holy Spirit to be the “Counselor,” “Comforter” and “Helper.”

The Holy Spirit is the part of God that is active and moving in our lives today. He comes as a companion and friend--the one who energizes, strengthens, and empowers the believer in Christ. He is the agency and the person through which God works in our life because He is God Himself.
